Nigerian Dwarf Goats at Bridgeport Farms

Located in Western Colorado

We are lucky enough to be raising goats in Western Colorado, high desert country. Our small farm is located at about 5000 ft above sea level. We rely on our well for water and have no irrigation water so we can offer our goats very little fresh grazing. We do allow them to graze on the desert that surrounds us and they can frequently be seen around the perimeter of our fenced in property. The climate is dry and gets hot in the summer. We do not worm our goats regularly unless they are symptomatic.

The Nigerian Dwarf breed captured our hearts back in early 2009.  We were lucky enough to discover Fred and Linda Phillips and visited their herd at Kannah Creek Farm and fell in love.  Tina and her side kick Izzy followed my husband around the yard and we were smitten.  Our original plan to keep two goats has morphed into a herd of 9...now 17...50 plus...and counting!

Our goals are simple. To raise healthy, friendly goats who kid easily and provide lots of delicious milk. To do that, we participate in the ADGA Dairy Herd Improvement programs and the ADGA Linear Appraisal program to constantly improve our herd. We also invest in new does and bucks to improve milk production and structure. We do show on occasion and hope to continue that as time and a full time job allow.

Herd Health

We take the health of our goats very seriously.  We have never had a case of CAE, CL, Johnes or Brucella in our herd.  We have tested in the past and have never had an animal test positive. Whole adult herd negative in July 2025 for CAE.

DHI and ADGA dairy stars!!

In 2019, we began DHI (Dairy Herd Improvement) milk testing. For the first year, we did owner sample testing. We’ve done standard testing for the past 5 years. Our Noall's Ark Caprice des Dieux 6*M, Elite 99 percentile 2019-2025, VEEE 9 has also made the top 10 for volume and protein.  Including her, we currently have 4 does on the Elite list!! Whoop.

Welcome to our new website! It's been a long time coming.

While we are whittling away at adding pages, you can visit the old website.

Lots of info there on our older does and bucks with ancestry info.
